Photo Op and Photography Relfections

Photo Op and Photography Reflections

I thought that the Photo Op reading was very interesting. Most of the topics I have learned in or just talked about in my previous photo classes that I took in high school. It was cool to see the images that went along with each subject so that you knew exactly what the author was talking about. I thought the images for the Movement section and the Continuous Mode were really neat and creative. It is so crazy how creative one can get with a camera. I don’t always bring my camera around with me, but I definitely should start, because you never know when something will inspire you or you just see something that you really want to take a photo of.

I thought that the Photography reading was interesting as well. It was long, but since I am a photo media major, it kept my attention. “Photographic documents are central to our culture and we all have a sense of what they look like and what they do.” (16) I liked this quote; it really made me think about things. Without photography we would not have a lot of things. Photography helps you learn and has helped in the medical aspect. The images in this reading were very moving. I thought that the Valley of Death picture was the most interesting, and the one that caught my attention the most. Not a soul or living thing was captured in that photograph, so the title really goes with the image. I really liked the quote by Robert Capa, “If your photographs aren’t good enough, you aren’t close enough.” I could relate to this because when I take an image, and then get closer and take another one, that second image is always better than that first one. I think closer up images are much more creative and catching to the eye; especially with certain subjects.
